The Itinerant Intercultural Indigenous Tourism School (Escuela Itinerante Intercultural de Turismo Indígena) was a project for the Colombian Vice Ministry of Tourism. 15 days of training to 45 Indigenous leaders representing 19 Indigenous peoples coming from 22 different departments.
This was a great opportunity to share information, thoughts, know-how, and wisdom with Awá, Inga, Nasa, Pastos, Eperaara Siaapidara, Guma Dule, Wounaan, Kokonuko, Cabiyarí, Zenú, Curripaco, Misak, Kogui, Arhuaco, Wayuu, Mokana, Embera Chami, Ticuna, Piaroa, Pamiva, Cumará Muinane y Yanacona peoples.
Colombia is fast advancing in Indigenous tourism thanks to the the great interest of the Government agencies, Academia, other partner organizations, and of course the incredible interest and empowerment of the Indigenous grassroots organizations. Congratulations to the Indigenous participants of the training for the “Yastau – Silvia Cauca Declaration”, which establishes key points to develop Indigenous tourism in the country.
